“Stable” is the word that comes to mind when looking at January’s real estate sales numbers for Howard County.
Our key benchmark numbers held very steady from this time last year, with the average sale price of $379,507 up a modest 0.09% from last January, and the number of January sales, at 167, off 2.3%.
One interesting statistic to note is that the days on market – the time between going on the market and going under contract – has increased to 68 days, up 6.25%. Homes are taking a bit longer to sell, but we’ll need to wait till next month’s numbers come out to see where activity is trending.
The increased marketing time could be due to the relatively harsh winter we have been having. Buyers may be unwilling – or unable – to brave the elements to go home shopping.
