Howard County offers fabulous Fourth of July holiday activities. Whether it’s the rockets red glare, or patriotic flair you desire for your celebration; we’ve done the legwork to gather a list for you to enjoy a fabulous Fourth activities in Howard County!

Friday, July 3


MT Airy Fireworks
Celebration starts at 5 p.m at the Mt. Airy Fireman’s Activities Grounds. Live music from Star Crush and Otto the Blue until the sun goes down and its fireworks time. Free corn hole and patriotic face painting. Food available for purchase includes Rita’s Ice, JZ Brick Oven Pizza, funnel cake and kettle corn. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, picnic and cooler for this fun community night.

Route: Parade starts at Pointers Run Elementary School and proceeds down Great Star Drive for 2.2 miles to the River Hill Shopping Center. Spectators will see several local community groups who create floats, decorate bikes or form small bands. Special treat-the locally renowned Precision Marching Lawn Chair Dads including County Executive Allan Kittleman.


Longfellow Annual 4th of July Parade at 10 a.m.
Route: Parade participants gather at Longfellow Elementary School at 9:30 a.m. at Hesperus Drive and Eliots Oak Road. Parade proceeds through local neighborhoods. Participants include local swim teams, antique cars and floats. Possible softball game at noon following the parade.

Allview Estates Community Association Parade at noon
Route: Parade starts at Atholton Park and proceeds through adjacent neighborhoods. Community members gather for an Independence Day Picnic in the park after the parade.  Neighbors decorate bikes and dress up dogs in patriotic wear for the parade. Past parades feature antique cars and fire trucks.

  Fourth of July Festival-Columbia Lakefront Fireworks
Festival starts at 5 p.m. featuring live music and food vendors until the fireworks start at dusk. New this year—Visit the Howard County Recreation and Parks website for an interactive map of the festival and to download a free app with a firework’s music soundtrack. FREE parking.

Lisbon’s Fourth Annual Antique Vehicle Parade and Festival
Parade at 11 a.m.  Festival until 2 p.m.
Route: Route 144/Old Frederick Road
The perfect parade for spectators who want to honor the men and women of our armed forces this holiday. Participants include American Legion, VFW Posts and Maryland Patriot Guard veteran groups. Antique cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles too! Vendor show and music by Southern Drift at the post-parade festival.
